Uganda’s most iconic band is turning 50, and the celebrations promise to be nothing short of legendary. Afrigo Band, the cornerstone of Uganda’s music heritage, will mark its golden jubilee with a mega concert titled “Legends of Sound: Afrigo at 50” on August 16th at Lugogo Millennium grounds.
To kick off the festivities, the legendary group visited Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) in Port Bell, Luzira, home of Tusker Malt Lager, the official sponsor of the milestone event. During the visit, Afrigo Band presented the UBL executive team with special tickets to the event as part of the build-up to the much-anticipated celebration.
Speaking at the engagement, Catherine Ndungu, Marketing and Innovations Director at UBL, paid tribute to Afrigo’s enduring legacy.
“Fifty years of consistency, passion, and craft is nothing short of remarkable. Afrigo Band embodies everything Tusker Malt stands for: longevity, authenticity, quality, and craftsmanship. Josephine Njoroge, UBL’s Finance and Strategy Director, who represented Managing Director Andrew Kilonzo, underscored the importance of preserving cultural legacies.
