Gospel singer Exodus has opened up about his struggle with mental health (depression) after losing his mother, job, house, and cars.

Speaking in an interview on a local radio station, Exodus revealed that his struggles began in 2013 when he lost his mother to cancer.

“I lost my dear mom. At that time, we discovered she had stage four cancer. When she passed away, I lost my job, my house, and my cars,” he said.

Exodus, who describes this period as his lowest moment in life, said that he decided to put his music career on hold and sought solace in drugs and alcohol.

“I turned to drugs and alcohol but tried to put on an OK face,” the gospel singer stated before revealing how he attempted suicide four times.

One of his suicide attempts occurred on December 23, 2018, when he went to Club Guvnor.

“I went to Guvnor. I just wanted to drink and die in an accident. Surely, I drank heavily as I intended to get hit by a car on my way back home. When I got out of the club and entered into my Premio, I hit someone’s Range Rover, and I was arrested,” Exodus narrated.

He added, “However, the police officer and the owner of the car noticed that something was wrong with me, and they instead took me to rehab. It is by the grace of God that I am still alive.”

Exodus urges people to refrain from being judgmental towards others, emphasizing that they often don’t know what they are going through behind the scenes.
