Media personality and digital influencer Sheilah Gashumba has once again made it clear that she will not refer to her father’s new wife, Patience Mutoni Malaika, as her mother.

In an interview on Kasuku Live, Sheilah explained her position, saying she has several reasons for her decision, the main one being that she is older than Malaika.

“She is younger than me, so why would I call her mum?” said Sheilah, who turned 30 this year.

However, she added that she still treats her with respect, even though she addresses her by her name, Malaika.

“I still respect her, even if I call her Malaika,” she said.

Sheilah also revealed that she follows the same approach when it comes to her mother’s new husband, saying she does not call him “daddy” either.

She explained that, for her, the titles “mum” and “dad” are reserved strictly for her biological parents, emphasizing that only the woman who gave birth to her carried her for nine months, and only her biological father earns those titles.

She urged the public to stop imposing their cultural expectations on her personal choices regarding family titles.
