COVID-19: Uganda’s positivity rate reduces to 6.6%, registers over 1000 new recoveries

With four days left to completing the 42 days total lockdown, the country is continuing to register positive strides in the fight against COVID-19.

The latest data from the Ministry of Health indicates that the positivity rate has reduced to 6.6% as per the tests conducted yesterday.

From the 3,599 conducted yesterday, 234 samples came out positive taking the cumulative confirmed cases to 92,724.

More people are beating the COVID-19 battle and the ministry data indicates that 1,381 people have recovered from the virus in a single day. The total recoveries now stand at 77,171.

On a sad note, 22 new deaths have been reported taking the total to 2,579.

1,115,946 have been vaccinated against the virus and according to several officials from the health ministry, the country targets to vaccinate at least 5 million people before starting to ease lockdown. This week government expects to receive more vaccines.

President Museveni is expected to address the country this week to give a way forward as the 42 days end on Friday.
