The Chieftancy of Military Intelligence (CMI) has denied allegations of a crackdown on associates of Kyadondo East MP, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.

The crackdown has so far taken Eddy Mutwe, Bobi Wine’s bodyguard and his official DeeJay known as Selector Davie.

According to Sir Dan Magic, Bobi Wine’s producer, Mutwe was arrested in the wee hours of Saturday morning by over six gunmen at a local bar in Kampala.

He also said that Davie has posted in the WhatsApp forum saying that gunmen had surrounded his house and that he was looking for an escape route.

“He says if his phones go off, we know that they have got him. Some of us close to Bobi are not sleeping in our houses because we know they are coming for us anytime,” another of Bobi’s associates told Matooke Republic.

Gen. David Muhoozi, the Chief of Defence Forces has denied knowledge of any such crackdown.

“I don’t know of anything like that. And if I don’t know, who knows?” he said in a joint security briefing on Saturday evening.

Eddy Mutwe had earlier been arrested and remanded for allegedly assaulting police officers and stealing handcuffs during a social media tax protest in Kampala.
