It seems the era of young Africans eyeing politics is upon us. With Bobi Wine sending waves in Uganda’s political scene and Zimbabwe’s Nelson Chamisa losing the election seat just by a 51% election vote and later challenging the outcome in court, it seems the wave is spreading to other parts of the continent.

Adejumobi Johnson, the founder of J.K.A, a leadership training organisation in Nigeria revealed his intentions at the launch of Cavendish University Alumni Association at Kampala Serena Hotel, Saturday, August 25. The former student of university and Bachelor of Laws graduate who also served as the Guild Speaker surprised the gathering when he stated that he is eyeing the highest seat in Africa’s biggest economy and most populous nation.

“Basing on my belief for an African that needs to be led by leaders who are policy oriented, an Africa that is lead by leaders that can talk and motivate a nation. We have seen a lot of divided nations. Nigeria is very big. We are almost 200m people so the best person that would lead such a nation is somebody would knows how to model the people into a leadership perspective which I believe I am and that is why I want to lead”, he told us on sidelines of the event.

“I have actually led right from my time in high school. At university, I was Guild Speaker and at my previous institutions; Ahmadu Bello University, Madonna University,  and I came here in 2013  but the Guild leadership here was fundamental to my leadership. I started JKA organisation that trains student leaders, institutions, basing on that, I want to see how I can transform leadership and problem-solving into policy like Ronald Reagan, Barrack Obama”,  he stated.

When we asked about Bobi Wine he stated; ”It’s unfortunate what is happening to him. He is a Member of Parliament and should be allowed to motivate his people. When government tries to stop that, they will only make him more popular. He has been allover the news yet that’s what the government is trying to avoid but ends up doing”.

Johnson revealed that he will place his bid come 2023 thus skipping the next election slated for next year.

The function was graced by Hon. Mamuganza Persis Princess, CDF South Sudan Gen. Jok Ariak, among other alumni.
