The new Specialised Women and newborn babies wing of Mulago Hospital will open doors to the public today September 17.

This comes after the Arab contractor officially handed over the state-of-the-art facility to the Cabinet team led by the Prime Minister, Ruhakana Rugunda on Thursday last week.

According to the Health Minister, Dr. Jane Aceng, the Hospital will handle cases such as High-Risk ANC, Gynecology, Delivery and Post Natal Services, IVF, Laparoscopic surgeries and many other cases.

The hospital is fully equipped with the latest technology equipment that were bought at the tune of over $8 million.

“The 450-bed capacity hospital will decongest Mulago National Referral Hospital and enable women with complex reproductive health problems to be treated and also reduce referrals abroad,” Aceng said.
