At the Inter-Party Organisations for Dialogue (IPOD) summit at Speke Resort Munyonyo, Democratic Party President General, Norbert Mao has hit the point right on the head when he told President Museveni to aid in a peaceful transition of power.

Mao, while addressing the summit re-emphasised the need for a dialogue saying that it is the only way to political hygiene that involves no feasts.

“The words we speak to each other. When we threaten each other, we receive threats and when we encourage each other, we receive encouragement,” Mao noted.

Mockingly, Mao assured President Museveni that it would be wonderful for him to attend a swearing-in ceremony of the president who is not him.

“Our goal now is for the country to see a peaceful transition of power, to see an army serve more than one regime. And Mr President, it will be wonderful if you attend a swearing-in ceremony of a President who is not you,” he said causing cheers from the crowds.

Mao gifted Museveni with a green DP Cap and urged him to adhere to the commitments agreed upon at the summit to propagate democractic principles in the country.

However, while all other parties with representation in parliament attended the summit, the largest opposition party – Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) are the notable absentee.
