Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng told Parliament that government has not provided any financial support to the management of the Ebola crisis.
According to Aceng, the ministry has dispersed over 4000 frontline health workers to the high-risk districts with the help of funds from development partners. Ebola Treatment units and isolation facilities have been constructed and operationalised in the high-risk districts.
“As of today, we have not registered any new confirmed Ebola cases since the ones registered four days ago in Kasese District that are currently under isolation at Bwera,” Aceng said.
Aceng told Parliament that all the six people who entered Uganda through DR Congo with the Ebola virus have been accounted for.
A family of five were successfully repatriated to the DR Congo where they are receiving specialized treatment.
Ebola was first recorded in on June 12 when the grandmother of the deceased index Ebola case who had travelled from the DRC tested positive for Ebola and died at 4 pm that same day.
She was accorded a safe burial at a public cemetery in Kasese District.
