More National Unity Platform (NUP) MPs-elect have had their election victory challenged before the High Court in Kampala and latest to join is the party’s spokesperson Joel SsenyonyI.

City Businessman Shukrah Mukesh aka Shumuk has petitioned the court challenging his victory in the Nakawa West MP race citing numerous irregularities.

Ssenyonyi received overwhelming support with 31,653 votes beating NRM’s Margret Zziwa Nantongo, independent candidate Kenneth Paul Kakande and Shumuk.

In his petition, Shumuk alleges that in the January 14th polls NUP’s Ssenyonyi connived with the Electoral Commission officials to commit several electoral offences including ballot stuffing and falsification of results to enable him win the parliamentary seat.

He contends that EC based on Declaration of Result forms that were not signed or witnessed by the presiding officer, to declare Ssenyonyi winner.

He wants court to nullify his election and order for fresh elections.
