Police have arrested 255 suspects during coordinated operations conducted on Monday across Wakiso District and parts of Kampala.
The raids targeted Nansana West Ward, Kyebando and Gganda in Wakiso Sub-county and Nansana Municipality; Kitukutwe Zone, Kiwologoma and Namugongo Nsawo Zone in Kira Municipality; Kyanja under the Kira Road Policing Area; and several identified crime hotspots in Kampala’s Central Business District.
According to police, the areas were singled out after intelligence reports indicated that they were being used as gathering points for individuals suspected of engaging in criminal activities that have been affecting residents.

During the operations, 65 suspects were arrested in Nansana and nearby areas, 38 in Kira Municipality, 16 in Kyanja and 136 in the Central Business District. Of those arrested in the city centre, 134 were male and two were female.
Police said all the suspects were screened and charged with offences related to possession of suspected narcotic substances and other related crimes.

They are currently being held at various police stations and will be taken to court after the processing of their case files.
