Outgoing Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has reportedly been placed under tight movement restrictions at her Nakasero home in Kampala.
This has been the case since Saturday, when operatives from the Special Forces Command surrounded the residence, disarmed her security team, and took control of all entry and exit points.
Since then, her movements have been closely monitored while detectives continue their inquiries.
At the same time, according to the New Vision, the Financial Intelligence Authority has frozen her bank accounts as investigations into alleged corruption and abuse of office gather pace.
Among was not at her Kigo home on Monday when security searched it. She was later escorted to help recover two luxury vehicles, a Rolls-Royce Cullinan and a Range Rover, linked to the probe.
She was also absent yesterday when detectives searched her parliamentary office. Officials have not commented publicly, but the national paper reports that the account freeze followed a weekend meeting between President Yoweri Museveni, security chiefs, the Inspectorate of Government, the Criminal Investigations Directorate, and the FIA.
On Tuesday, Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba posted on social media that the crackdown had just begun. He said recovered money and property would be returned to the Treasury and warned government officials to cooperate with security services or face arrest.Among
