The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, says his son, Ruhamya Kainerugaba, has started training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in England.
Ruhamya, who holds the rank of Private in the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), is currently undergoing training at the academy in Berkshire/Surrey.
In a series of posts on X, Muhoozi wrote: “My beloved son, Ruhamya, is doing an excellent job in Sandhurst. All good Ugandans should pray for him every day.”
Sandhurst is the British Army’s main officer training academy. It focuses on leadership and tactical skills, not academic degrees. It is considered one of the most prestigious military training institutions in the world.
Muhoozi himself trained at Sandhurst and graduated in 2000. He is not the only East African leader’s son to attend the academy. Lt. Ian Kagame, son of Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame, graduated from Sandhurst as a Second Lieutenant in 2022.
