Uganda has arguably grabbed the main bragging rights at this year’s just-concluded IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Arhaus, Denmark, after clocking a 1-2 finish in the men’s senior race, which is the final and most prestigious event at the championships.

Joshua Cheptegei won gold and his junior Jacob Kiplimo came second to take silver, relegating Kenya’s defending champion and long-time King of the Field Geofrey Kamworor to third position (bronze medal).

It is a first IAAF World Cross Country Championships gold for Uganda, as well as a first 1-2 finish for Uganda at the event, more so in the men’s senior race.

Kenya and Ethiopia have previously dominated the men’s senior race, always sharing the top three places among themselves for most of the competition’s editions.

Now Uganda surely joins the two nations on the table of men when it comes to showing muscle at the bi-ennal event.

On the overall table of medals, Uganda has also come close to the two countries, with a total of 6 medals ranking third behind Kenya (8 medals) and Ethiopia (11 medals).

Here is the table of medals as it has gone;
