Uganda basketball international Arthur Kaluma has secured a major breakthrough in his career after signing a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Kaluma earned the deal after an impressive showing in the NBA Summer League, where he averaged 19 points per game and shot 50% from three-point range.

The 26-year-old spent last season with the South Bay Lakers, the Lakers’ development affiliate, where he continued to develop as a versatile perimeter defender and a dependable three-point shooter.

His performances earned him an opportunity to feature for the Lakers in the Summer League, helping the team reach the semi-finals before they were eliminated by eventual champions Golden State Warriors.

Under the two-way contract, Kaluma will split his time between the Lakers and South Bay Lakers during the upcoming season. He will also be limited to a maximum of 50 NBA games.

The deal is reportedly worth about $636,435 (approximately Shs2.3 billion), marking a significant milestone for the Ugandan star.

Kaluma, who represented Uganda at the 2021 AfroBasket, is now on the verge of making his mark in the NBA after years of developing his game.
