Victoria University Throws in Free AI Course for Every Applicant for July Intake

Kampala’s Victoria Towers on Jinja Road is buzzing again. Applications and registrations are officially open for the July/August 2026 intake at Victoria University Kampala (VU), and this time round, the university is sweetening the deal — every applicant who registers gets a free AI course thrown in from day one.

It’s a small addition, but it says a lot about where VU is trying to position itself: not just as another private university in the city, but as one betting that artificial intelligence literacy will matter as much to a graduate’s CV as the degree itself.

A university built around industry, not just lectures

VU has spent over a decade carving out a reputation as a practical, industry-focused institution. Since 2013, it has been part of the Ruparelia Group, the business empire built by Sudhir Ruparelia, and in 2022 it was awarded full charter status by the Republic of Uganda — a recognition that cemented its standing among the country’s accredited private universities.

That charter matters. It means VU’s degrees carry the same national weight as those from long-established institutions, while the university itself keeps leaning into a more hands-on, career-first teaching model. The pitch to prospective students is straightforward: come out with skills employers are actually looking for, not just a certificate.

What’s on offer this intake

The July window covers certificate, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across VU’s core faculties — Business Management, Health Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Science and Technology. Popular undergraduate options include Nursing Science, Midwifery Science, Public Health, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, and Environmental Health Science, alongside business and social science degrees such as International Relations and Diplomatic Studies. On the postgraduate side, the MBA and Master of Public Administration remain among the university’s flagship offerings.

For students weighing where to study this year, VU is also pointing to its flexible learning options — both on-campus and distance learning — aimed at working professionals and those who need a schedule that bends around other commitments.

Prospective students can apply online through VU’s official website or visit the Victoria Towers campus on Jinja Road for in-person guidance on requirements and available scholarships.
