The estate administrators of the late Kadongo Kamu legend, Job Paul Kafeero, have issued a legal notice to Luga Flow rapper Gravity Omutujju, demanding Shs2 billion in damages over alleged copyright infringement. The lawsuit, filed through Libirige & Co. Advocates, accuses Gravity of illegally reproducing and profiting from Kafeero’s iconic song Walumbe Zaaya.

According to the notice dated February 11, Gravity Omutujju (real name Gereson Wabuyu), along with Pitaxon and producer Rinex under Big Talent, remixed, recorded, and distributed a version of Walumbe Zaaya in 2012 without obtaining permission from Kafeero’s family. The video, available on the rapper’s YouTube channel, reportedly features unauthorized use of the original audio, lyrics, beats, and the deceased musician’s voice.

“These actions constitute serious violations of copyright and related rights, including infringement of the late Paul Kafeero’s moral and economic rights, unauthorized reproduction and distribution, as well as unlawful commercial exploitation of his intellectual property,” the legal notice states.

As a result, Gravity Omutujju has been ordered to immediately cease all performances, distributions, and monetization of the song in any form. He must also remove the song from all digital platforms and provide a full financial report detailing the revenue generated from its use. Additionally, the family is demanding compensation of Shs2 billion in general damages.
