Betty Nakibuuka Ssenyonjo, the mother of gospel singer Baby Gloria, has broken her silence over what she calls hurtful and unfounded gossip circulating about her family, asking the public to stop spreading rumours about her daughters.

Her response follows days of intense social media chatter claiming that Baby Gloria’s marriage to Jonas Mbaleka is already in trouble, only months after their wedding. Some of the posts have gone further, alleging that Jonas is secretly involved with Baby Gloria’s younger sister, Jolly Mirembe Ssenyonjo.

Speaking out, Nakibuka said she personally discussed the rumours with Baby Gloria and encouraged her not to be disturbed by online speculation.

“She told me that people simply wake up and invent stories about her life,” Nakibuka said. “I reminded her that the Bible teaches us that nothing stays hidden forever. Lies may spread for a while, but the truth always shows itself.”

Nakibuka expressed particular concern over the attention directed at Jolly, whom she described as young and unfairly dragged into a situation she has nothing to do with. She appealed to the public to stop subjecting her daughter to unnecessary scrutiny and pressure.

“Please leave my child alone and allow her to live her life,” she said. “She does not deserve to carry the burden of rumours made by strangers.”

She also addressed questions about why Jolly remains in Uganda while many of her peers have moved abroad, explaining that it was a personal decision made within the family.

“Most of her friends have left the country, but I asked her to stay here with me,” Nakibuka said. “So I am again asking people to stop attacking her.”
