Socialite and businesswoman Zari Hassan has announced that she and her husband, Shakib Cham Lutaaya, have ended their relationship after five years together.
In a statement shared with her followers, Zari revealed that the pair had mutually agreed to go their separate ways, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason behind the decision.
She described the breakup as a difficult but necessary step, saying both of them had taken time to reflect before deciding that separating was the best path forward.
“After much thought and reflection, we believe it is best for us to part ways due to irreconcilable differences,” the statement read.
Zari explained that despite ending their relationship, there is no bad blood between them. She noted that they remain grateful for the years they spent together, the memories they created and the support they gave one another throughout their journey.
According to the statement, the split was amicable, with both parties choosing to move on with mutual respect and understanding.
“There is no anger or resentment. Sometimes two people simply grow in different directions,” she said, adding that they continue to value their friendship and wish each other happiness and success in the future.
The announcement brings an end to one of East Africa’s most talked-about celebrity relationships. Zari and Shakib publicly confirmed their romance in 2022 and later formalised their union through a private Nikkah ceremony in May 2023. The intimate event was attended by close family members and marked a significant milestone in their relationship.
