President Yoweri Museveni has officially been sworn in for a new five-year term covering 2026–2031. The ceremony is taking place at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds under tight security.
Chief Justice Flavian Zeija presided over the swearing-in ceremony.
During the event, Museveni took two constitutional oaths — the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of President. He was later handed the instruments of power, including the Constitution, the National Flag, the Presidential Standard, the National Anthem, the National Coat of Arms, and the Public Seal.

He also received the Instruments of National Defence from the Chief of Defence Forces in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces.
Museveni, who has led Uganda since 1986 after the National Resistance Army took power, now begins his seventh term as President.
Unlike previous inauguration ceremonies, First Lady Janet Museveni was notably absent. Instead, the President arrived at the ceremony accompanied by his daughter, Natasha Museveni Karugire.

Museveni also departed from his usual inauguration attire. While he has traditionally worn suits during past swearing-in ceremonies, this time he appeared in a white shirt and black trousers.
