National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Idah Nabayiga has been declared the winner of the Kalangala District Woman Member of Parliament by-election, securing a decisive victory over five other contenders.
The results were announced by Kalangala District Returning Officer Ronald Agaba after voting concluded on Wednesday.
Nabayiga garnered 12,642 votes, comfortably defeating her closest rival, Irene Nampala of the National Unity Platform (NUP), who received 7,474 votes.
Independent candidate Sharifah Babirye finished third with 244 votes, while fellow independents Flavia Hellen Nagawa and Agnes Nasuuna polled 217 and 34 votes respectively.
According to the official results, voters cast 20,611 valid votes. The election also recorded 427 rejected ballots and 67 spoilt ballots, bringing the total number of ballots counted to 21,038.
The by-election was held following the death of Hellen Nakimuli, the NUP legislator who had recently retained the Kalangala District Woman MP seat during the 2026 General Election before her passing created the vacancy.
