Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Chairperson, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has removed Kasambya County MP David Kabanda from the organisation’s Central Executive Committee, where he has served as Secretary General for the past three years.
Kabanda has been replaced by Fadil Twaha, who now takes over the influential position within the pressure group.
Announcing the changes on his official X account, Muhoozi praised Kabanda for his service and expressed confidence in the new appointee.
“The new General Secretary of PLU is Hon. Fadil Twalla. I will work closely with him to achieve our objectives. I thank Hon. Kabanda for his three years of excellent service. He set the standard high for the position,” Muhoozi posted.
Muhoozi also revealed that only Michael Nuwagira, commonly known as Toyota, lawyer Edwin Karugire, Igara East MP Michael Mawanda and journalist Andrew Mwenda would remain on the Central Committee.
He directed PLU National Vice Chairperson Michael Nuwagira to organise the handover ceremony for the office of Secretary General as soon as possible.
“All PLU Ministers and Members of Parliament must attend,” Muhoozi said.
In recent months, Kabanda has emerged as one of PLU’s most vocal figures, frequently issuing major political statements on behalf of the group. Most notably, he announced that PLU would not support embattled Speaker Anita Among for the position of Speaker in the 12th Parliament and instead endorsed Jacob Markson Oboth-Oboth for the role.
