Outgoing Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Secretary General David Kabanda has said he formally informed PLU Chairperson Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba of his intention to step down before the decision was made public.
Speaking in an interview with Daily Monitor, Kabanda claimed that some individuals within the group were interested in using the office for personal financial gain and saw him as an obstacle to their plans.
“Some members think I am the one blocking their chances of getting money or conning people. PLU has people with different interests,” Kabanda said.
He added that he decided to step aside so others could take up leadership roles, noting that he now wants to focus on serving the people of Kasambya County who elected him to Parliament.
Following his exit, Gen. Muhoozi appointed Fadil Twalla as the new PLU Secretary General. In a post on X, he confirmed the change while noting that Kabanda remains a member of the PLU Central Committee.
