Senior Presidential Advisor and Head of the State House Investors Protection Unit, Col. Edith Nakalema, has publicly confirmed that the marriage between former Miss Uganda Stellah Nantumbwe and her husband, Saidi Bukenya, has broken down.
Speaking in a video that has since gone viral on social media, Col. Nakalema alleged that Nantumbwe filed for divorce and later left the matrimonial home with household property belonging to Bukenya.
In an appeal, Nakalema urged the former beauty queen to return the items, claiming that the situation had left Bukenya and his family distressed.
“Nantumbwe, God blessed you with fame and respect, but do not allow those blessings to be destroyed. If you no longer want the marriage, return the man’s property and move on peacefully,” Nakalema said.
She further alleged that Nantumbwe’s mother was involved in the removal of the items from Bukenya’s home, a claim she strongly condemned while calling on both mother and daughter to make amends.
Drawing from biblical teachings, Nakalema said forgiveness, repentance and reconciliation were important in resolving such disputes. She maintained that if the marriage could not be salvaged, the property in question should be returned to its rightful owner.
Nantumbwe and Bukenya held a colourful wedding ceremony in August last year after first formalising their union through a traditional introduction ceremony.
However, in recent months, rumours of trouble in the marriage began circulating on social media, with speculation that the two had quietly separated.
