Uganda Cranes are in high spirits ahead of their Group G 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers game against Algeria this evening at Namboole Stadium. The game, which will be live on FUFA TV, is scheduled to kick off at 7 pm.

The Cranes are hoping for a good result, motivated by their 1-0 win over Botswana last Friday. Additionally, they are facing an Algerian team that is not in its best form, having lost 2-1 at home to Guinea.

The Cranes and Algeria are both on six points, making this fixture very crucial for both sides.

Overall, this will be the 15th meeting between the two nations, with Algeria edging the previous 14 encounters with 6 wins against Uganda’s 3 wins and five draws. Meanwhile, the last three meetings have all ended in victory for Algeria, including back-to-back defeats for Uganda in the 2023 Afcon qualifiers.

However, since 1973, Algeria has never defeated Uganda in Kampala. The results were 1973: Uganda 2-1 Algeria, 1983: Uganda 4-1 Algeria, and 1998: Uganda 2-1 Algeria.

This evening, Ugandans are expected to flock to Namboole to cheer on the boys as they aim to secure maximum points against the North African side.

Expected Uganda Cranes Starting XI
Isima Watenga, Elvis Bwomono, Isaac Muleme, Elio Capradossi, Halidi Lwaliwa, Ronald Ssekiganda, Kenneth Semakula, Rogers Mato, Travis Mutyaba, Fahad Bayo, Muhammad Shaban
