AFCON 2025 QUALIFIERS: Uganda Cranes Head Coach Paul Put unveils squad to face South Africa, Congo

Uganda Cranes Head Coach Paul Put has summoned a squad of 28 players for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa and Congo, slated for next month.

The coach confirmed the squad in a press briefing held on Tuesday at the FUFA Complex.

The team will travel to South Africa on August 31 to prepare for the first game against Bafana Bafana on October 6 at Orlando Stadium.

The game against Congo will be played on October 9, 2024, at Mandela National Stadium.

The coach confirmed that defenders Kenneth Semakula and Halidi Lwaliwa will not be available for the game against South Africa due to visa issues. However, the duo will be available for the home game against Congo.

He further revealed that some players have been sidelined due to injuries. These include Allan Kyambadde, Moses Opondo, Uche Mubiru Ikpeazu, and Isaac Ssewankambo.

Uganda Cranes is in Group K alongside South Africa, Congo, and South Sudan.

FUFA Communications Director Ahmed Hussein confirmed that tickets for the home game against Congo will go on sale tomorrow (Wednesday, August 28, 2024).
