Julius Kyazze, who has built companies in entertainment, media, events, hospitality and tech, has said that his best career investment is singer Vinka real name Nakiyingi Veronica Luggya.
Speaking during an interview on Play It Loud, the Swangz Avenue boss said singer Vinka is the biggest investment of his career. For him, growing talent pays more than growing companies.
Kyazze runs Swangz Avenue, Buzz Group Africa and the pan-African platform Live54+. But what moves him most is watching artists rise.
“Lately I don’t even want to watch Vinka, or even Azawi, because I get emotional,” he said. “I look at them and then I look at the audience and see what we have done together as a team. Sometimes it overwhelms you.”
Vinka’s story is one Swangz Avenue tells often. She started behind the scenes, working with the label’s management team. When she switched to music, many doubted her. Today she’s one of Uganda’s top female stars.
Kyazze said the moment it hit him was at Obafest.“I looked at Vinka at Obafest and I saw a star. People were screaming and I told myself, ‘You’ve done well.’”
He gets the same feeling watching Azawi, another Swangz Avenue artist who has grown fast under the label.
