On Saturday, September 12, I&M Bank Uganda Limited reaffirmed its commitment to community health by supporting the Buganda Kingdom’s Tubeere Balamu Health Camps, a week-long medical outreach programme bringing free surgical services closer to communities across Buganda.
The initiative, running from 12th to 19th September 2026, was officially flagged off by the Second Deputy Katikkiro of Buganda, Owek. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, who led the deployment of over 600 medical personnel to serve communities across 10 districts in the counties of Bugerere, Buvuma, Bulemeezi, Busiro, Kyaggwe, Ssingo and Buluuli. Approximately 3,500 patients are expected to benefit from the programme.
Speaking at the launch, Owek. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa commended the medical professionals for dedicating their time and expertise to improving lives and urged them to uphold professionalism and compassion while serving communities.
The Executive Director of Kabaka Foundation, Omukungu Eddie Kaggwa Ndagala, thanked the Association of Surgeons of Uganda (ASOU) for partnering with the Buganda Kingdom to bring much-needed surgical services closer to the people. He highlighted the need for medical professionals who are committed, trustworthy and compassionate in their service to Ugandans.
Dr. Kakungulu Eddie, President of the Association of Surgeons of Uganda (ASOU), noted that the outreach will provide surgical care alongside preventive health services such as student vaccination and screening, aimed at identifying and preventing potential health complications.
He also noted that limited medical equipment and resources continue to make it difficult for some hospitals to provide specialised surgical services, making outreach programmes such as this an important way of taking specialised care directly to communities.
I&M Bank Uganda Limited’s support of the health camps forms part of its long-standing partnership with the Buganda Kingdom and its broader commitment to initiatives that improve community wellbeing. The Bank has previously partnered with the Kingdom on several health outreach programmes, including earlier editions of Tubeere Balamu health camps.

The initiative is being implemented through a partnership between the Association of Surgeons of Uganda and Kabaka Foundation, with support from I&M Bank Uganda Limited and other partners. Medical teams will provide free surgical care and related health interventions throughout the week at designated locations across Buganda.
