Police in Kira Division have arrested a man suspected of being behind a string of robberies in Kyaliwajjala and neighbouring areas.
The suspect, identified as James Lumu, was arrested following investigations into a violent robbery that took place on 16 June 2026 at around 8:00pm in Nabwojjo, Kyaliwajjala B Zone.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, the victim, 23-year-old Daniel Tenywa, a resident of Kiwanga in Mukono District, was attacked with a blunt object before his mobile phone was stolen.
Police say information gathered during the investigation pointed to Lumu as one of the suspects involved in the robbery.
Acting on the intelligence, officers conducted an operation in Kyaliwajjala Kapeera on 18 June 2026, leading to Lumu’s arrest without incident.
He is currently being held in police custody as detectives continue investigating his alleged involvement in other robberies and related criminal activities in Kira Division and surrounding areas.
Police have urged members of the public to continue sharing information that could help identify and apprehend other suspects linked to violent crime in the area.
