Ugandan-English teenager Divine Mukasa has signed a new long-term contract with Manchester City that will keep him at the club until June 2030.

The 18-year-old midfielder impressed while on loan at Leicester last season. He played 15 Championship matches in the second half of the campaign and contributed two goals and three assists.

Mukasa also broke into City’s first team earlier in the season, making six senior appearances before his loan move.

On signing his new deal, Mukasa said: “I am really excited to see what the future has in store for me.

“I have learnt so much since the day I arrived at the Club from players and staff alike. The experiences I have gained have definitely made me better as a player and as a person.

“With this said, I can only use the environment to keep progressing. My taste of first team football at City earlier last season has only strengthened my ambition to compete at the highest level.”

Born in the United Kingdom to a Ugandan father and a Lithuanian mother, Mukasa has already played for England from U-15 to U-20 level. However, he can still choose to represent England, Uganda or Lithuania at senior level, so his international future remains open.
